Library Speak was a blog that lasted from 2011 to 2014. After the site’s host, Gordon Yusko, began a very demanding job at UBC the ability to properly maintain it was too demanding. It featured trends and events in and related to libraries, with a focus on innovation.
Rapidly developing changes in the use of emerging technologies, social networks, open access and user expectations for quality service pose both risks and opportunities for the future of libraries. How will they adapt and change?
The site’s host, Gordon Yusko, was the Assistant Director at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, part of the University of British Columbia Library system. He now works at another university. Prior to working at UBC he was a senior manager for 10 years the San José Public Library in California, and prior to that, worked for the BC Public Library Services Branch, the BC Legislative Library and the Canadian federal government.
